Rossford business owner charged with arson

BLADE STAFF

A Rossford woman was being held Thursday in the Wood County jail, on charges stemming from a fire at her Rossford business, authorities said.

Patricia Groves, 57, of 135 W. Front St., was arraigned Wednesday in Perrysburg Municipal Court on charges of aggravated arson and insurance fraud for her role in a fire that broke out Dec. 20 at Downey’s Daisy Home Services, 777 Dixie Hwy., Rossford police Sgt. Todd Kitzler said.

Ms. Groves is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Her next court appearance was scheduled for Feb. 2, according to jail records.

Sergeant Kitzler said authorities believe that the motive in the arson was insurance fraud. Ms. Groves, the business owner, has no felony history, he said.

Details of the fire were unavailable. Authorities released no further details of the investigation.
