Arson ruled cause of fire at house in Huron Co.

BLADE STAFF

ATTICA, Ohio -- A fire Monday morning at a vacant Huron County house has been ruled arson by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire, at 6672 Townline Rd. in Norwich Township, between Willard and Attica, was reported just after 10 a.m. by a passer-by who noticed smoke, authorities said. The property has been vacant since October.

Damage to the structure was "significant," some of which is from a prior arson fire at the same address in 2008, authorities said.

Authorities declined to say how the fire was started, citing the investigation. County land records list the 3.91-acre property's owner as Sara Beebe of North Fairfield, Ohio.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for anyone who can provide information about anyone responsible for the fire. Anyone with information should call 1-800-589-2728.
