Three Toledo police officers were injured late Saturday after their vehicle was struck by a driver who failed to stop at the intersection of South Avenue and Stebbins Street, police said.

Officer Paul Marchyok, 46, was driving a police unit with limit markings east on South Avenue on the way to assist other police units at 10:39 p.m. Saturday. Jared Harris, 22, of Toledo, was traveling north on Stebbins Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign before turning left on South Avenue, police said.

The two collided, and Mr. Harris appeared to attempt fleeing the scene before his vehicle went off the road struck two houses, according to police. The police vehicle struck a tree, police said.

One of the police officers, Robert Orwig, 44, was in fair condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where all four people involved in the accident were transported. The hospital had no information about Officer Marchyok or his other passenger, Officer Neil Piasecki, 36.

The hospital did not yet have a condition on Mr. Harris.

An investigation into the accident is continuing.
