The Sylvania Township trustees Tuesday approved the sale of the old Fire Station No. 2 for $310,000.

The facility, at 6438-6448 W. Central Ave., is no longer needed for public use and was replaced by a modern fire station at 3006 N. McCord Rd. that opened in June of last year. The property will be rezoned to C-2, for commercial use, from its current S-1, for public use.

Township Administrator John Zeitler said the property was appraised at $300,000, and that the value was reduced because of its limited access on the north side of Central, which has a concrete median divider in that segment of the road near U.S. 23, as well as the poor condition of the building.

The property was listed for sale at $339,000, Mr. Zeitler said, and initial offers came in at around $250,000. The buyer is Ryan Opial.
