Toledo man's shooting of self an accident, police say

A Toledo man accidentally shot himself in the thigh and abdomen Friday outside a Sylvania restaurant, police said.

Wellington F. Roemer, 54, of Brooklawn Drive was taken to Toledo Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

The incident was reported at 1:18 p.m. outside the China 1 restaurant in the shopping center at 5834 Monroe St.

Sylvania police said Mr. Roemer accidentally discharged his handgun as he was getting out of his vehicle.
