Two people were killed and another critically injured in a head-on car collision early Sunday morning in Monroe County's Erie Township.
At about 4:06 a.m., Dane E. McDonald, 24, of Erie, Mich., was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck north on Dixie Highway when a 1998 Ford Taurus traveling south on Dixie struck his truck in the northbound lane, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Both the driver and the front-seat passenger in the Taurus died at the scene. Police did not release their names Sunday morning.
Mr. McDonald was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. An update on his condition was not available at 8:40 a.m. Sunday.
Police are still at the scene investigating and could not release not more details, including what may have caused the crash.
