Elderly man killed in West Toledo crash

A 92-year-old Toledo man was killed during a Thursday afternoon crash at Wernerts Corner on the city’s west side, police said.

William Wooten was pronounced dead at Mercy St. Anne Hospital after the 2:04 p.m. accident.

Police report that Mr. Wooten was driving a Ford station wagon eastbound on Laskey Road, slowly driving through the Laskey/Tremainsville Road/Douglas Road intersection striking a van and then hitting Sommerset Hall, 2458 W. Laskey.

There was minimal damage to either vehicle and the building.

It’s unclear if Mr. Wooten had a medical condition that would have been a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
