Toledoan arraigned in liquor-store holdup

A 33-year-old South Toledo man was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court for the armed robbery of a west side liquor store.

Matthew Adams of 941 S. Reynolds Rd. is charged with one count each of robbery and kidnapping for an armed robbery at Joseph Brothers Beverage Center, 4129 Talmadge Rd., Sunday.

His bond was set at $200,000; he was being held in the Lucas County jail.

Gerardo Gonzalez, Jr., 29, of 961 S. Reynolds also is charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and kidnapping but has not been arrested.

Police said two men rushed into the store at about 7:35 a.m. Sunday as an employee was walking in, held a gun to the man's head, and forced him to open a safe. The robbers then forced him inside a walk-in cooler before fleeing, the report states.
