Traffic enforcement effort coincides with area proms

BLADE STAFF

Toledo police will hold a citywide traffic enforcement blitz that is timed for the area proms, starting Friday, authorities said today.

The blitz will target the whole spectrum of traffic violations, including speeding, failure to wear safety belts, and aggressive driving, police said.

Sponsored by a federal grant administered through state authorities, the overtime effort will fall on “random days” when officers will be assigned “whenever possible” to areas where school proms are taking place, officers said.

The blitz is scheduled through May 19, Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said.
