Toledo man is charged with assault on officer

BLADE STAFF

A Toledo man is being held in the Lucas County jail for allegedly head-butting a city police officer in the face.

Rickey Wayne Palomin, 23, of 2011 Reinwood Dr. was ordered Monday to be held in the jail in lieu of $75,000 bond. He is charged with assault on a police officer, inducing panic, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. A second court appearance was set for May 31.

Court documents state that the suspect called 911 on Sunday and reportedly told dispatchers that he had a gun and was going to kill his entire family.

Police said that when they arrived, the suspect tried to pull away from officers as they placed him in handcuffs and that he allegedly head butted Toledo police Officer Michael Talton. The extent of the officer’s injuries was unclear on Monday.

The suspect has two pending felonious assault cases in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
