Crews respond to fire at Hillsdale inn

BLADE STAFF

HILLSDALE, Mich. --- The Bavarian Inn was evacuated of employees and guests today after firefighters were called to the scene of a fire there.

Firefighters were called to the inn, located at 1728 Hudson Rd. on route M-99, about noon and were still at the scene at 4 p.m., said Hillsdale Rural Fire Department Chief Brian Aube.

No injuries were reported and everyone was safely evacuated, Mr. Aube said. The chief did not know the number of people who had to be evacuated.

The hotel is located about 20 miles away from Michigan International Speedway. Firefighters closed down M-99 to traffic, and reopened the highway at about 4 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, Chief Aube said.
