STONY RIDGE — A 19-year-old Toledo man who was pulled from a quarry after more than an hour under water was pronounced dead late Wednesday in Mercy St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Wood County sheriff’s deputies said.
Dayquo’n Brown was swimming with friends at the Clearwater Quarry on Genoa Road in Wood County’s Troy Township. The sheriff’s office received a 911 call about 7:35 p.m. of a possible drowning at the quarry. Brown went under the water and his friends were unable to locate him, deputies said.
The water rescue unit from the Toledo fire department pulled Brown from about 18 feet of water at 8:40 p.m. He was taken to St. Charles, where he was pronounced dead about 9:30 p.m.
Also helping in the effort at the quarry were sheriff’s deputies, Lake Township police, and emergency medical workers from Troy and Lake townships.
