Two delivery drivers robbed in South Toledo

BLADE STAFF

Two delivery drivers from two different restaurants were robbed within a half hour of one another Tuesday night and today.

Both robberies occurred in South Toledo and only about a mile apart.

Jaron Thompson, 23, a delivery driver for The Oasis, told police two men robbed him of $14 when making a food delivery in the 2400 block of Cheyenne Boulevard at 11:50 p.m.

Mr. Thompson told police one of the men had a small black handgun and demanded the victim’s cash and cell phone.

The victim reportedly told the suspects he would not give them the phone because he “has to talk to his children.”

The suspects did take the cash.

Wade Opaczewski, 38, a delivery driver for Papa John’s, reported to police that he was delivering two pizzas to a residence in the 5800 block of Staghorn Drive at 12:20 a.m. when he was approached by two men asking about soda pop.

The victim told them he did not have any beverages and one man shouted, “get him.”

The victim was pushed and robbed of the pizzas; the suspects ran southbound behind an apartment complex.
