Toledo man arrested for Erie Twp. break-in

ERIE, Mich. -- A Toledo man was arrested Tuesday and accused of a home invasion in Erie Township Saturday during which a man was beaten with a hammer.

Thomas Edward Bell, 37, of 1247 Yates St. is charged with one count of armed robbery. He was held in the Lucas County jail pending extradition to Michigan.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 8000 block of Suder Avenue about 9 p.m. Saturday after an intruder assaulted the homeowner, stole cash, and fled in the victim's car.

The victim was treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center; authorities said Tuesday the victim was seriously injured but is "fine."
