Findlay man killed in one-vehicle crash

FINDLAY -- A Findlay man died Friday after he lost control of his pickup on State Rt. 12 just west of I-75, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Richard Oates, 59, was pronounced dead at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Troopers are trying to determine whether Mr. Oates suffered a medical problem that caused the crash. They said he was driving west on Route 12 about 8:30 a.m., when he drove off the right side of the road and hit the curb in the intersection at Stanford Parkway before striking a fence at Findlay Animal Clinic.
