ROCKY RIDGE, Ohio — An Oak Harbor, Ohio, woman remained hospitalized today after she was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that also hurt a Wilmington, Ohio, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Katie Katich, 28, was listed in critical condition at University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, a hospital spokesman said. Ms. Katich, who was driving a car, was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol’s Sandusky post.

Adam Lay, 18, was treated at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Mr. Lay, who was driving a full-size sport utility vehicle, was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.

The Lay SUV was turning left from State Rt. 579 onto State Rt. 2 in Benton Township in Ottawa County about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when it was struck on the driver’s side by the Katich car, which was eastbound on State Rt. 2. The SUV failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, troopers said.

No citations were issued and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the patrol. The crash remained under investigation today.

Rocky Ridge is about 20 miles east of Toledo.
