BLADE STAFF

BOWLING GREEN — A Toledo man has been indicted by a Wood County grand jury for murder in last week’s fatal shooting of a Perrysburg Township woman.

Jose Moya, Jr., 23, was indicted for murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the July 22 death of Leandra Frankum, 21, who was shot to death inside a Broad Street house in the Perrysburg Heights neighborhood. She has been described as Moya’s on-again, off-again girlfriend.

The murder charge includes a firearm specification for the alleged use of a gun in the crime as well as a repeat violent offender specification, which states that Moya was convicted of felonious assault in Lucas County in 2008.

Also indicted was Moya’s brother, Raul Moya, 18, who faces a charge of obstructing justice for hindering authorities’ efforts to apprehend Jose Moya. Jose Moya turned himself in to authorities July 24, while his younger brother was arrested the next day by U.S. marshals in Toledo. Both are being held in the Wood County jail.
