Toledo police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a West Toledo tanning salon last week.
A man with a gun tucked into his waistband went into the Sun Goddess Tanning, 5511 Lewis Ave., at 11:50 a.m. on Aug. 4, lifted his shirt, revealing the handgun, and repeatedly ordered a clerk to give him money from the cash drawer, police said.
After the clerk refused several times and reached for the phone to call 911, the man stepped behind the counter, used a plastic shopping bag to grab the phone, threw it onto the floor, and fled, according to police reports.
The gunman was described in a police report as black, in his mid-to-late 20s, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with facial hair.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Crime Stoppers program at 419-255-1111.
Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
