The Ohio Highway Patrol on Tuesday investigated a crash in which an 83-year-old Toledo man was struck by a vehicle as he walked across West Central Avenue in Sylvania Township, and later died.

Donald Pack of Toledo was taken to Toledo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.

He was walking south across West Central Avenue near Hasty Road about 6:26 a.m Tuesday when he entered the eastbound left lane and was struck by a car driven by Kristine Chudey, 22, of Oregon, according to the patrol's Toledo post. He was wearing dark clothes and a red safety light, according to the patrol.
