One person was killed in a traffic crash on Monclova Road in Swanton Township early this morning, troopers said.
Troopers said the identity of the victim is pending DNA tests from the Lucas County Coroner.
The crash was reported to the Toledo post of the Highway Patrol at 2:50 a.m. Based on the preliminary investigation, troopers found that the victim was driving eastbound on Monclova, east of Wilkins Road, when it went off the right side of the road, struck a tree, hit a utility pole, and then caught fire, troopers said.
Troopers do not believe anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an official from the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
