FREMONT -- A 20-year-old Bascom, Ohio, man died Saturday night several hours after he was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Seneca County, according to the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Jacob Hohman, one of three passengers in a 2000 Ford F-250, died in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, where he had been taken by air ambulance following the crash that took place on Jackson Township Road 71A, just south of the Sandusky County/Seneca county line at County Road 1 in Jackson Township at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Kevin Wertz, 20, of Tiffin, was driving the vehicle southbound on Sandusky County Road 58 when he failed to yield for a stop sign at the county line road and lost control of the vehicle that then left the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning onto its top, troopers said.
Also in the vehicle were Rachel Pennington, 20, of McCutchenville, Ohio, and Alexander Ratchen, 18, of Tiffin.
Information on any injury to the other occupants was unavailable Sunday night, according to the highway patrol that is continuing its investigation into the crash.
