Man pleads not guilty to murdering his father

An Oregon man who is charged with the beating death of his father pleaded not guilty to murder this week in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Jacob Kutsch, 21, of 1131 Earlwood Ave., is charged in the Nov. 3 death of John Kutsch, 58. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison. Judge Stacy Cook set a $250,000 bond Monday and scheduled a Jan. 14 court date.

Oregon police said a life squad arrived at a house on Earlwood Avenue where the elder Mr. Kutsch was unconscious.

A violent altercation occurred shortly before his death, police said.
