Toledo to hire 50 new police officers in 2013

Toledo Mayor Mike Bell announced Tuesday that he would hire 50 new police officers in 2013 — up from 45 he had promised for the year. The new recruits will be hired in the fall and the five officers will cost the city an additional $88,000 through this year, Mr. Bell said.
