WAUSEON — With banks closed because of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday, Wauseon police were a bit suspicious when they received a report of a possible intruder at Fifth Third Bank on Shoop Avenue Monday.
“It was not a bank robbery,” Sgt. John Roof said.
About 2 p.m., a caller told police her husband had seen someone crawling on the roof of the bank and that it appeared they were trying to enter the building. The three officers on duty went to the bank but didn’t use lights and sirens, Sergeant Roof said, because there had not been an alarm from the bank.
Police found the building safe and secure inside and out, although it appeared the wind had dislodged some tiles on the roof, he said.
