Sheriff's deputy cited for red light violation in West Toledo crash
A Lucas County sheriff's deputy was cited for a red light violation today after she ran a light and struck two vehicles with her cruiser on Douglas Road.
Sgt. Molly Mason was northbound on Douglas at 9:17 a.m. when she looked down briefly and didn't notice the light at Berdan Avenue had turned red, according to a Toledo police report. She collided with a vehicle that was westbound on Berdan. That vehicle was propelled into a fence at 2456 Berdan.
Ms. Mason's cruiser then struck a vehicle that was stopped at the light in the southbound lane of Douglas. Ms. Mason was "shook up" by the crash and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The southbound lane of Douglas was blocked for about an hour.
