Oregon city school board President P. J. Kapfhammer during a 2012 meeting in Oregon, Ohio.
Oregon school board President P.J. Kapfhammer has been charged with menacing and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, stemming from threats he allegedly made to an autistic man during an after school workout in Clay High School.
An appearance in Oregon Municipal Court has been scheduled for March 4.
Mr. Kapfhammer yelled a profanity and threatened to harm Thomas Blachowski, 25, of Oregon during a late afternoon incident on Feb. 1., while Mr. Blachowski was working out at the high school, his mother, Terrie Blachowski, told police. Mr. Blachowski is the honorary manager of the baseball team and was working out with the squad, something he regularly does.
Mr. Kapfhammer acknowledged the incident occurred as reported to police, but said the encounter was a misunderstanding that escalated into his yelling when Mr. Blachowski didn't respond to his questions when he asked him who he was.
