The Toledo Police Academy's 60th class is to graduate at 7 p.m. today at Owens Community College, boosting the department's ranks by 40 officers.
The graduation ceremony is to include presentation of the Keith Dressel Memorial Award of Excellence to the trainee with the highest score based on academics, physical conditioning, and firearms. Detective Dressel was killed in the line of duty in 2007.
The trainees have undergone 26 weeks of training and, once graduated, will be assigned to the police operations division. They will work with field training officers for the next four months.
