Purses demanded, possible injury.
Toledo police have identified Sherry Shirey, 62, and Sheilah Green, 59, as the victims of an attempted robbery in central Toledo late Thursday in which shots were fired.
The incident at 2144 Hawthorne St. was reported about 10:40 p.m.
Ms. Shirey "had a minor scratch that required no medical attention on her right wrist," according to a police report. She may have been grazed by a bullet, authorities said. There were no other injuries, according to police.
Police said two men armed with handguns approached the victims and demanded purses. A round was fired into the air when a neighbor who saw the incident ran out of his house.
There was no word of arrests.
The incident remained under investigation.
