MONROE — Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone has announced a dog license amnesty program for owners who have let their pet’s license expire or have never purchased one. It allows late fees to be avoided.
Dog owners may purchase a license at the regular price at the county’s animal shelter at 911 S. Raisinville Rd., Monroe, on Tuesday and March 30. There will be no late fees or penalties added to the cost, the sheriff said. The Monroe County Animal Shelter will have a veterinarian present to examine dogs and administer vaccinations.
The license costs $7.50 for a dog surgically altered or $15 for a dog not altered. On March 1 a delinquent fee was added, doubling the costs.
