An early morning fire Saturday in a West Toledo apartment displaced at least one family.
The blaze was reported about 3:20 a.m. in the North Towne Village Apartments, 5725 Silverside Dr. Arriving firefighters were met by flames visible from the first floor, said Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld, Toledo fire department spokesman.
Police told firefighters that three occupants escaped by jumping from the second-floor of the townhouse-style unit, but no one was injured, Lieutenant Hertzfeld said.
The cause is under investigation. Although the fire was confined to one unit, apartments on either side side sustained damage. The loss was estimated at $70,000, Lieutenant Hertzfeld said.
The American Red Cross provided food, clothing, and shelter for an adult and three children, said Amanda Aldrich, a Red Cross spokesman.
