Northwood, Allen-Clay, Lake fire units get aid
The Northwood Fire Department, Lake Township Fire Department, and the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District have been awarded nearly $490,000 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The funds, part of a regional communication grant, will be used to purchase new radios to help at emergency scenes.
Joel Whitmore, Northwood Fire Department chief, said the grant is being divided based on each department's need.
He said Lake Township will receive $261,876; Northwood, $144,022, and Allen-Clay, $81,460.
Each department will pay a 10 percent match, he said.
