OAK HARBOR - A Fed-Ex delivery truck driver and a dump truck driver were both injured today when their vehicles collided on State Rt. 19 just north of Salem-Carroll Road.

Fed-Ex truck driver Andrew R. Everett, 29, of Toledo, was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after the 1:30 p.m. incident, according to a report by the Ohio Highway Patrol. The driver of the dump truck, Eric Duncan, 39, also of Toledo, was transported by ground to St. Vincent, the report states.

A hospital spokesman said Mr. Everett, who troopers said was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck, was admitted to the hospital and was stabilized. Mr. Duncan remained in the emergency room late today and so a condition was unavailable, she said.

A third person, Anthony W. Robbins, age unavailable, of Toledo, was a passenger in Mr. Everett's vehicle and jumped from the Fed-Ex truck and into a ditch right before the crash occurred, troopers said. He suffered minor injuries.

According to the patrol report, Mr. Duncan was driving north on Route 19 with a full load of asphalt, when he drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected, and drove back onto 19 and overturned. As the dump truck overturned, it struck the Fed-Ex truck, which was southbound, and both vehicles slid northbound on 19 before coming to final rest, the report states.

It is unknown whether Mr. Duncan was wearing his seat belt, troopers said.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash remained under investigation late today.
