Family and friends of a man who has been missing since Sept. 10 rallied outside of the downtown Safety Building today seeking attention from the detective assigned to the case.
Kevin Carr, Jr., 24, of Toledo, was last seen Sept. 10 when his mother dropped him off at North Hawley and Blum streets between 8 and 9 p.m. to meet an unknown person. The family said they have not seen or heard from Carr since.
Eight people, many wearing T-shirts with Carr’s name and face on them, stood in front of the Erie Street police building and chanted, “We want him home. Detective do your job,” and later “Earn your paycheck. Detective do your job. We want Kevin home.”
Carr’s girlfriend, Leanda Pullom, 26, of Toledo, said Detective Vince Mauro has not returned the family’s phone calls. The family said the police department is not doing enough to find Carr.
Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said the department has posted information about Carr on social media in attempts to solicit information on his whereabouts.
“This one is a little suspicious because the last time you saw him he was meeting someone who we don't know and we're not clear on the circumstances of that meeting,” Sergeant Heffernan said. The sergeant said little, if any, information has come in on where Carr is or what might have happened to him, but that each lead has been followed up on. There have been no reported sightings of Carr since Sept. 10.
Police ask that anyone with information about Carr call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
