Driver: Brake failure causes crash into train

A woman whose pickup crashed into the side of a moving train Monday told police her brakes failed when she tried to stop, police said.

The crash, near Consaul Street and Paine Avenue in East Toledo, was reported just after noon.

The driver, whose name was not released, was eastbound when her truck hit a southbound CSX train. The train operator, not realizing that the locomotive had been struck, did not stop, police said.
