A $10,000 donation today will assist the Lucas County sheriff's Drug Abuse Response Team.
Louisville Title Company collected a portion of closing fees for the efforts against heroin and opiate abuse. Jim Lindsay, president of Louisville Title, said the agency admires and appreciates the DART unit.
Lt. Bobby Chromik, right, with the Lucas County Sheriff’s D.A.R.T. Team, implores a young, male, heroin addict, left, to get into a rehab program with their assistance during an emergency home visit on August 8.
“We hope that this contribution will help support the DART program, which will continue to improve the safety of our community. More importantly, DART has saved lives and will continue to save lives,” Mr. Lindsay said.
The company intends to donate a portion of future closing fees as well.
The money will help lease cars for the officers, purchase fuel, and obtain equipment, Sheriff John Tharp said.
“We can't thank you enough. This is absolutely awesome,” Sheriff Tharp said.
