Alcohol believed to be factor in fatal Springfield Twp. crash

The crash occurred Saturday at 9:58 p.m.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to a single-vehicle fatal crash Saturday night in Springfield Township.

The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the 9:58 p.m. crash at Nebraska Avenue and King Road, according to a news release. Allen Reinhart, 27, of Toledo, had been the front-seat passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Kevin Sengstock, 30, of Holland, and a second passenger, Keith Horton, 27, of Toledo, were transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio hospital, and are in critical condition, according to the release.

Mr. Sengstock was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban east on Nebraska Avenue at a high rate of speed and failed to slow down and negotiate the roundabout at King Road. The vehicle traveled through the roundabout, struck a curb on the southeast edge of Nebraska Avenue, overturned, and struck a tree.

None of the three men were wearing seat belts.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Springfield Township Fire Department and the Lucas County Sherriff’s Office.
