West Toledo man accused of shooting at ex-girlfriend's vehicle

A West Toledo man is accused of firing a pistol at his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle, which was occupied by several family and friends.

David L. Estis Jr., 19, of the 4000 block of Harford, is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony; and carrying concealed weapons, a fourth-degree felony.

He will be arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Estis is accused of firing several bullets from a 9 mm pistol at his ex-girlfriend while she was driving in the area of Broadway and Lorain streets on Sunday, according to a document filed in Toledo Municipal Court. The victim’s vehicle was occupied with five of her family and friends.

There were no injuries reported.

The victim called 911 and gave a description of Estis’ vehicle, which was stopped near City Park and Indiana avenues. The driver’s door panel was pulled away and when officers shook it, the loaded gun fell out, according to court documents.

Trayvon R. Estis, 21, of the 300 block of Isington, is also charged with obstructing justice. He was a front seat passenger in the vehicle his cousin was driving and gave false information to officers during the incident.

He will also be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Monday.
