BOWLING GREEN — Two people were killed and several people were injured, at least one of them seriously, when a car and a sport utility vehicle collided Thursday near this Wood County community, authorities said.

The car driver and the passenger in the vehicle’s front seat were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. The passenger in the car’s rear seat was flown to an area hospital in critical condition, according to a written statement released by the office.

The car was southbound on Rudolph Road at U.S. 6 about 2:30 p.m. when it failed to stop or yield at the stop sign, colliding with the SUV, which was eastbound on U.S. 6, according to sheriff’s office.

The occupants of the SUV were taken to an area hospital by a ground ambulance. Their conditions were described as “stable.” Deputies did not say how many people were traveling in the SUV.

The names of the victims were being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The crash occurred just south of Bowling Green, which is 20 miles south of Toledo.
