The Lucas County Board of Elections has had workers visiting two nursing homes a day with absentee ballots in preparation for the May 4 primary.
The board approved hiring more than 1,700 precinct workers for the primary.
Also, plans have been made to bring in fresh vote counters the evening of Election Day to tabulate the votes for write-in candidates, Director Linda Howe said at yesterday's board meeting.
