Herman Cain set to speak in Toledo
Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain will combine a bus tour in support of Congressional candidate Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher with his planned speech Friday at the Lucas County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner.
Mr. Cain is the guest speaker for the annual Republican Party fund-raiser at the Stranahan Great Hall, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd., as part of a program beginning at 6:30 p.m., according to the county Republican Party and the Wurzelbacher campaign. State Auditor David Yost will give the invocation at the dinner. Also on hand will be state Republican Chairman Kevin De- Wine.
The tour for Mr. Wurzelbacher includes a rally that is free and open to the public at 1:30 p.m. at Umberley Civic Center, Rocky River, Ohio. After the Lincoln Day Dinner, where both Mr. Wurzelbacher and Mr. Cain will speak, they will participate in a rally at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds in Oak Harbor at 8:30 p.m.
According to the Wurzelbacher campaign, Mr. Cain will talk about his "9-9-9" tax reform plan and his support for Mr. Wurzelbacher.
Mr. Wurzelbacher of Springfield Township is opposed by Steven Kraus of Huron in the March 6 primary election for the 9th Congressional District, which stretches from Toledo along Lake Erie to Cleveland.
The winner will face the winner of the Democratic primary election.
Tickets for the Lincoln Day Dinner are $75 a person and can be obtained from the party by calling 419-482-0506, or going online at www.lucascountygop.org.
