Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge Myron Duhart still appears to be returning to the bench, however, his early lead has narrowed significantly as votes continued to be counted for Republican challenger Kenneth Phillips.
Judge Duhart, 42, a Democrat, was leading Mr. Phillips, 54, of Toledo, with about 50 percent of the precincts reporting. The judge was first appointed to the bench in 2010 to replace retiring Judge Charles Doneghy.
Returning to the Lucas County courthouse is Clerk of Courts Bernie Quilter, a Democrat, who beat Republican Constantine Stamos. Mr. Quilter, 35, of Oregon, has served as Clerk of Court since first being appointed in 1999.
Running unopposed on the ballot were Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates as well as Common Pleas Judges Stacy Cook, Gary Cook, James Bates, and Linda Jennings. Also running unopposed were Domestic Relations Judge David Lewandowski, Juvenile Court Judge Connie Zemmelman, and Judge James Jensen for the 6th District Court of Appeals.
