Bowling Green, Napoleon among school levies that fail

BOWLING GREEN - The 6.75-mill continuing levy request for the Bowling Green school district has failed by a wide margin in today's special election, as have numerous other school tax proposals in the region, according to preliminary results.

With all precincts reporting, the Bowling Green school levy has been defeated by a 4,118 to 2,174 count. No votes accounted for 65.45 percent of ballots cast.

Income tax requests for schools in Gibsonburg and Napoleon failed.

School levies in the Clyde-Green Springs and Elmwood districts also have failed, while levies for the Fostoria and North Baltimore schools have passed.

Voters in Swanton Schools defeated a 3.9-mill bond issue. Oregon schools received approval of a five-year, 2-mill property tax renewal.
