Senate committee approves 3 judicial nominees

WASHINGTON  — The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved three of President Obama’s judicial nominees for a full Senate vote -- including one for the influential D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The committee voted 18-0 today to move forward the nomination of Sri Srinivasan to the D.C. Circuit. Srinivasan is currently the principal deputy solicitor general. If he is approved, he would be Obama’s first nominee to D.C. Circuit to be seated.

The D.C. Circuit is considered the second most influential court in the country, behind the Supreme Court.

The committee also approved by a voice vote the nomination of Raymond Chen to serve on the federal circuit and, by a 10-8, party-line vote, the nomination of Jennifer Dorsey to Nevada district court.
