Former St. John s Jesuit and University of Dayton basketball star Brian Roberts, who was not selected in the two rounds of the NBA draft, has been invited to take part in summer league play with the Orlando Magic from July 7-11.
Roberts, 22, a 6-2 guard, said he will undergo a physical exam Wednesday in Orlando, take part in a light practice, and then participate in a mini training camp with the organization prior to summer league play.
They called my agents and he thought this would be a good situation for me, Roberts said of his representatives, Josh Nochimson and Jason Levien. I ll play in the summer games and then we ll go from there.
The Magic are currently light at the point-guard position, with only veteran Jameer Nelson under contract with the team. Roberts said the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers also have invited him to their summer leagues.
