Jets agree to make Ravens' Ryan coach, source says
NEW YORK The New York Jets have reached an agreement with Rex Ryan to make the Baltimore defensive coordinator their head coach, a person with knowledge of the deal said.
The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the four-year deal was not yet finalized, says it was expected to be done in the next few days.
Ryan, 46, replaces the fired Eric Mangini and takes over a team that started last season 8-3, but missed the playoffs with quarterback Brett Favre after losing four of its last five games.
Ryan is expected to be formally introduced at a news conference Wednesday at the Jets facility in Florham Park, N.J.
