Olin Browne hits a shot from the fairway on No. 1 during the third round of the 2011 U.S. Senior Open at the Inverness Club.
Olin Browne has led the U.S. Senior Open golf tournament after each of the first three rounds – Thursday and Friday and Saturday – and entering Sunday’s final round at Inverness Club has turned the event into perhaps a two-player chase for the title along with Mark O’Meara.
Browne (15-under) followed his rounds of 64 and 69 with a 6-under 65 Saturday while playing in the final pairing with O’Meara, who made a few charges at the lead before settling for a 66 Saturday to enter the final 18 holes at 13-under.
Four players are tied for third place at 9-under, including Jeff Sluman, Peter Senior, Joey Sindelar and Mark Calcavecchia.
From that group, it was Sluman who made the biggest climb on moving day, carding a 65.
The three players who are tied seventh place at 7-under are Hale Irwin, who won the 1979 U.S. Open here, Jeff Roth and Michael Allen.
