Toledo used a four-run sixth innings, highlighted by an RBI double by Matt den Dekker and a two-run triple by JaCoby Jones, to improve to 5-0 in August.
Hens starter Anthony Vasquez allowed just three hits and five walks while striking out seven in seven innings to earn the victory, while Zac Reininger followed with two scoreless frames to earn his first save with Toledo.
The second game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. in Columbus, with Artie Lewicki getting his first start for the Mud Hens against Travis Banwart of the Clippers.
