Red Wells family buys Plantation Inn
The Plantation Inn in Maumee, the second-oldest commercial building in Lucas County, has sold to the Red Wells family of Toledo for $575,000.
It saves a 172-year-old landmark at 301 River Rd. that has housed a hotel, numerous restaurants and bars, and other retail shops during its long history.
The 14,600-square-foot property was sold by the Toledo office of Signature Associates. Tentative plans are to move the Red Wells Famous Roast Beef restaurant into the property's main floor, said real estate spokesman Tanya Pipatjarasgit. The restaurant is currently located on 1740 W. Sylvania Ave.
The third floor will house the Red Wells family's Generations Financial Services Group. The second floor will be used for financial seminars and banquets.
