The deadline for Lucas County property owners to pay the first half of their 2008 real estate tax is tomorrow.
Because the county treasurer s office is closed tomorrow, payments sent via mail must be postmarked Monday to avoid penalty and interest, Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz said yesterday.
The county has roughly 208,000 parcels, and Mr. Kapszukiewicz said his office typically mails about 140,000 tax bills every billing cycle, with the remaining parcels billed electronically.
The treasurer s office is open today from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Taxes can be paid in person at the treasurer s office on the fifth floor of One Government Center, or at branches of the following local banks: KeyBank, Huntington Bank, National City Bank, Fifth Third Bank, First Federal Bank, Exchange Bank, and Genoa Banking Center.
For payments made at local bank branches, taxpayers must bring their tax bills and pay in full.
