Foreclosure filings decreased in metro Toledo in the third quarter from the second quarter and from the same period a year earlier, according to a widely watched barometer.
In the three-month period ending Sept. 30, there were 1,922 filings and bank repossessions, representing 0.64 percent of all homes in the area, RealtyTrac, of Irvine, Calif., said today. That percentage ranked the area that includes Lucas, Wood, Fulton, and Ottawa counties 65th among U.S. metro areas with 200,000 or more people.
The firm said the percentage of homes in foreclosure was down 5.7 percent from the prior quarter and 3.3 percent from the third quarter of 2008. One in every 156 houses in the area was in foreclosure in the third quarter, RealtyTrac said.
